Lardner, Ring W. Gullible's Travels, You Know Me, Al, The Big Town & What of It?
New York Charles Scribner's Sons 1925 First Edition Decorative Cloth Fine No Jacket as Published
Four volumes in matched bindings. Gullible's Tavels, 256 pp; You Know Me, Al, 247 pp; The Big Town, 244 pp; What of It? 256 pp. Though these are stated first editions, they are more rightly termed "first thus" and "first revised". Gullible's Travels, You Know Me, Al and The Big Town were first published in 1916, 1917 and 1921 respectively. The Big Town is a true First Edition with pp 200-201 reversed. What of It? 's first publication date is 1925. The texts and endpapers are clean, tight and unmarked. The light blue boards have a darker blue label with the title on the spine and gold-stamped decorations, the boards have minimal bumping at extremities, color is bright. This is a very handsome set in excellent condition.

467 pp. First edition with colophon in place. Text is clean, tight and unmarked, slightly yellowed. Endpapers have yellow glue stains.There is a gift inscription in pencil on the fly leaf. Green cloth boards with gold-stamped Lardner signature bumped at corners, small water stain on lower front, rear board has differences in texture.Spine is bumped and faded with a lose of color on a small part of the upper spine.
