Virginia: The Nottoway County Historical Association, 1975 124 pp with BV&W illustrations in text. The material for this book, published by the Nottoway County Historical Association, was taken from three books published by Captain Irby and now out-of-print: "The Nottoway Greys," "The History of Randolf-Macon College and "Bird-Notes and Other Sketches." plus a collection of letters written to Virginia Jordan's grandmother by Captain Irby. The Captain was a commissioned officer in the Confederate Army, he saw action and was wounded at the Battle of Second Manassa. After the war and a career in business Irby became Randolf Macon College's Secretary and Treasurer from 1886 until 1902, resigning only shortly before his death. He also served as a trustee of the college for 50 years. He was the author of the first history of Randolf-Macon, in the late 1890s and the college has him to thank for collecting and preserving many of its old records. Text is clean, tight and unmarked. Grey paper covers are clean and undamaged.. By Author on FFP. Soft Cover. Near Fine.
