8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. xii, 215 pp with 21 B&W illustrations and one map. Translated from the Swedish by Naomi Walford. Orvar Karlbeck, a Swedish engineer living in China, traveled through northern China collecting archeological material, bronzes and pottery for museums and private collections in Sweden between 1930 and 1935. He vividly describes the famine that was devestating China during that period. Text is clean, tight and unmarked.Binding is sound, blue cloth boards are clean and undamaged.
